The Coach House is an ideal spot for a romantic hideaway on the Wild Atlantic Way. The mezzanine bedroom boasts a kingsize sleigh bed with goose down pillows, overlooking a cosy sitting room with a  solid fuel burning stove for warming your hands and feet after a walk on the beach or a dip in the sea.It keeps it lovely and cosy in the winter months.

For small families the sofa in the sitting room converts into a comfortable single bed. Outside the traditional coach house doors is a stone paved terrace, garden furniture & steps down to a sunken garden

Neighbourhood description

This thrillingly remote retreat offers all the bonuses of an ‘off-grid hideaway’ but has very good internet, making it ideal for ‘working from home’. It is within easy reach of a range of West Cork’s vibrant, bustling towns and villages, from musical Clonakilty to historic Kinsale and beyond…

Dunworley Bay sits on a rugged and enchanting stretch of Atlantic coast known as the Seven Heads. So if you love long, beautiful walks along headlands, exploring ring forts and watch towers or climbing along rocky coastline discovering untouched coves and beaches- this is heaven!
The areas offers a range of activities from cycling, to riding and all kinds of water sports. We love surfing, kayaking, rock jumping, swimming and body-boarding at Dunworley Beach- all year round if you’re brave!

The sands are washed clean by the lovely unpolluted sea every day, the air is fresh, and we get no light pollution… so you can enjoy undisturbed views of the incredible canopy of stars on night time wanders.

Clean, unpolluted sea & air means on clear, dark nights in July, August & September, bioluminescent plankton light up the waves like bursts of fireworks. Phosphorescence!

Friends you might meet along your way include seals, sea otters, dolphins, porpoises, basking sharks and sometimes even whales!
If you would like to adventure away from Dunworley, there is no shortage of things to do…

West Cork is renowned for its artisan food and there are scores of fantastic, award winning, restaurants nearby, some of the best of them are within a 10-20 minute drive. We have four Michellin starred restaurants in Cork county!

We are within easy reach of many of Cork’s famed golf courses such as the internationally renowned ‘Old Head of Kinsale’.

If you like horses, you can go to the races or can hire ponies to trek along the beaches.

Check out nearby Kinsale or Glandore for sailing, or Courtmacsherry for deep-sea fishing and whale watching trips.
The lovely Blarney castle is only an hour away, where you can kiss the stone and be blessed with the gift of the gab, or just wander in the beautiful grounds and have tea in the cafe.

Ancient Drombeg stone circle (3000 BC.) is 45 minutes away, pre-dating Stonehenge it’s well worth checking out!

For anyone with an interest in gardening, Bantry House and Gardens and Garnish Island (designed by Richard’s Great Uncle) are beautifully landscaped and not to be missed.

West Cork has gained a reputation internationally for its friendly people, relaxed attitude, charming villages, fantastic restaurants, pubs, and live music venues.

For those with an interest in the history of Ireland’s most beloved drink, Middleton distillery (set up by Richard’s Grandfather) is within striking distance, where you can sample whiskey to your heart’s content!

Had the most fantastic weekend away with a group of old friends here- loads of space to hang out and comfy armchairs for fireside board games in the evenings. Right on the sea and amazing homegrown and cooked food from Gilly !

We have rented Dunworley house on two separate occasions. The big house is the perfect place for a family reunion, luxurious couches in the giant drawing room, complete with roaring fire, large windows and high ceilings- Gorgeous bedrooms with comfortable beds, and the fantastic conservatory which had plenty of room for our large group for dinner, with grapevines growing overhead and lights twinkling. There’s a large, professional cooker in the kitchen, which makes it easier to cook for a big group. Do yourself a favour and ask the hosts (Gilly and Richard) to cook for you for a night- Gilly’s a wonderful cook, and uses produce from her organic garden. We had the most incredible birthday dinner served to us in the conservatory. I can’t say enough about what a perfect place Dunworley house is (did I mention that the beach is a stone’s throw away?)and we will definitely be renting it again!
